This story has been a long time coming. Lindy first appeared in the Copper Ridge series and I’ve been anxious to find out more about her ever since. As usual, I was not disappointed. Maisey Yates always comes through with giving her characters realistic yet complicated back stories.

If you’ve been reading this series, you know Lindy and Wyatt get under each other’s skin. But, unless you’re new to reading this genre, you also know that means there are a lot of feelings under the surface. And boy are there feelings. One of my favorite things in this book is how Lindy and Wyatt initially met years ago, when she was still married and he was friends with her husband. There’s something about it that just got to me. Amazing.

Having read stories about the Dodge family already, I was a bit surprised by the relationship between Wyatt and his dad. His relationship with his father is so completely different from his brother Bennett’s relationship with their dad in Untamed Cowboy; and Luke’s relationship with their dad in Smooth-Talking Cowboy. I enjoyed this aspect because that’s how real-life works, too. We all have individual relationships with our parents and/or children. No matter how hard a parent tries, no kids are treated exactly alike. Sometimes that causes some deep scars that you may not even realize are there. While Wyatt’s dad knew he had made mistakes, until Wyatt finally decided to have a real discussion with his dad there was no way he could know how much his actions shaped Wyatt’s adult life.

Lindy cares about those in her inner circle so much, but she doesn’t know how to receive that love back. She holds everyone at arm’s length and doesn’t even seem to realize how much she’s missing out on. All she knows is she’s doing things her way on her terms and she can’t let anyone on the outside think otherwise. Appearances mean a lot to Lindy; this story shows us that she has a good reason for feeling like she needs a façade. Somehow, Wyatt seems to be able to see beneath that façade and she doesn’t know what to do with that.

This is a beautiful story of finding love and friendship where you least expect it, and learning that it’s okay to be yourself. Wyatt and Lindy both needed to learn how to stop worrying about how others saw them (for drastically different reasons) as long as they know they are good people and lived their lives as such.

There are some things that happen to people within Lindy’s circle during the last part of this story that I know are going to turn into an amazing story for the characters. Looking at the next couple books that will be released in this series, it looks as though I’ll have to wait a while to see how it’ll play out. Not that I’m disappointed. A couple of stories I’ve been waiting a long time for are still coming up this year. In fact, I already have the next book on my Kindle waiting for me.

Good Time Cowboy An Anthology A Gold Valley Novel Maisey Yates 9781335474612 Books Reviews

I love Wyatt. I love the way he comes off as easygoing and not caring but deep inside he cares a great deal and feels so much. His guilt is hard to see only because he shouldn’t feel any. He feels he needs to repent for his past and he doesn’t. He is a powder keg and when he blows it will be the release he needs and will help him heal and go on. Wyatt is the one who takes care of everyone but himself for he has closed himself off in fear of being hurt again. He has had to pick himself up so many times that now he doesn’t want to need anyone. ONly when Lindy walked into his world five years ago she started to break that wall and now that she is free she is crashing it down.

Lindy is a strong stubborn character. She is trying to prove something to others and along the way loses herself. She doesn’t think she is easy to love and can love but she is wrong. Her and Wyatt have a explosive relationship. Two peas in a pod at first. Both trying not to need others but they drive each other nuts. She is one that is very structured and he is laid back. She is kind and caring but with Wyatt she is sassy and bold. These two give us some great banter and sexy moments even when disagreeing. I didn’t like her rules when they finally acted on their feelings. You could see how it hurt Wyatt but he didn’t say anything because again he felt he deserved it.

We see how Lindy heals and finds her way to who she is supposed to be and this is due to Wyatt’s honesty and support. He is there for her and shows her kindness, understanding and compassion. He sees her and not who she portrays. Lindy helps Wyatt as well for he begins to feel again and let someone in even when he fights it. The chemistry is explosive and that is how they begin their journey. It is Wyatt’s dad who helps Wyatt get to where he feels he can let Lindy in and love. The man who hurt him helps him heal. That scene is heartbreaking and warming for you see healing and a new relationship begin between them.

The story is sassy, fun and intimate. Sweet and fun. The characters you love and you see the love between family and friends as well as you read and fall in love with Lindy and Wyatt’s story of how the move on, heal and fall in love.
I’ve read several books written by Maisey Yates over the years. And I just love her writing. So after I read book four ‘A Tall, Dark Cowboy Christmas’ in the Gold Valley Series a view weeks ago, I knew I wanted to read more books in this series. When I saw ‘Good Time Cowboy’ on I just couldn’t resist and started reading soon after I received the book.

‘Good Time Cowboy’ is the story of Lindy Parkes and Wyatt Dodge. They met five years ago in a bar and both had this intense reaction to each other. But Lindy was married to Dodge’s friend, so nothing every came of it. And the fact that they didn’t ‘like’ each other at all was also a great point why they didn’t interact much. But now five years later, Lindy is divorced and she and Wyatt have a business deal which forces them to talk regularly.

After I read ‘A Tall, Dark Cowboy Christmas’ I was super curious about the story of Lindy and Wyatt. There was just something about these two that I really liked and I couldn’t wait to read there story. And thankfully their story didn’t disappoint at all. From the moment I started reading I was hooked. The interactions between Lindy and Wyatt are just so fun to read about. And the chemistry between these two are definitely coming of the pages.

What I loved most about this book was the fact that Lindy and Wyatt met all these years ago, but never acted on their feelings. The fact Lindy was married meant something to them, and I really respected them for that. I also really enjoyed Wyatt’s character. He was just funny, and there’s a lot more about him than you would immediately think.

I definitely enjoyed this book a lot. I read it in a day and couldn’t put it down. I definitely plan on reading every book in this series. And I especially can’t wait for Dane’s, Lindy’s brothers book, that’s coming in 2019.
