I had to rate this book as a 5. It was well written and the characters were too real. I sympathized with the characters emotions. I appreciated the spiritual reality displayed in the book. It was also intriguing how the dirty works of Satan played out. Secrets always have a way of surfacing in time.Tags : Amazon.com: Confessions (The Fiery Furnace) (Volume 2) (9780983604624): Renee Allen McCoy: Books,Renee Allen McCoy,Confessions (The Fiery Furnace) (Volume 2),FaytheWorks Publishing LLC,0983604622,African American - Christian,African American - General,Christian - General,Fiction - Religious,Fiction Christian General,Fiction : African American - Christian,Fiction : African American - General
Confessions The Fiery Furnace Volume 2 Renee Allen McCoy Books Reviews
Confessions, the second novel in Renée Allen McCoy's Fiery Furnace Series, is a well-crafted and thought-out follow-up to The Kiss of Judas. The drama and action picks right back up and immediately draws the reader into the complicated lives of Jermaine Grant and Nia Thomas, a couple who suddenly find themselves in a friction-filled relationship when astonishing secrets begin to unfold between them.
McCoy does a brilliant job of keeping the reader's attention and invoking self-reflection about the decisions we make and how they can negatively affect others, whether we realize it at the time or not. Detailed in this suspenseful plot where hidden secrets surface to wreak serious havoc on innocent lives, we easily see how the consequences of our poor choices can often weave a dangerous web when they come back to ensnare us into a life of pain, hurt and mistrust.
Confessions is a must-read. Despite the actions of our past, it offers the very truthful picture that God is not taken by surprise by our human imperfections and sin. In fact, He is always right there to help us handle the reality of the known...as well as the unknown.
Renee McCoy takes the Word of God and places in real life everday situations, in this Emotional filled novel. Best Friends turned Brothers (you have to read it for yourself). Jermaine Grant is trying to find himself in the mist of grieving over his recently deceased best friend. He thought he had it all. And in trying times Jermaine finds himself alone. Left without his friend and now his intended Wife to be Nia. Making choices and taking chances only to find out that, He can do all things through Jesus. He must let go and Let God Have His Way. And with the help of an old friend he learns the true meaning of Love, Goodness and Mercy. "Confessions" will make you laugh, cry and have faith. Either way you will be so glad you read this story. Great story great job. Savvy Book Club, Jackson MS.
Confessions by Renee Allen, is the story of Jermaine Grant and Nia Thomas. In Confessions, Jermaine's beloved cousin, Isaiah, is murdered by an ex-girlfriend. Prior to Isaiah's death, Jermaine finds out Isaiah was not his brother but rather his cousin. This makes coping with the death of the person he has loved all of his life extra hard for Jermaine. During the time that Jermaine needs a friend most, his best friend and fiance', Nia, hightails it for Chicago for an interview. Although Nia loves Jermaine, the skeletons in her closet keep her from giving herself to him completely. As bones begin to fly from behind Nia's closed doors, the reader is left wondering if they can be buried in the past or if her involvement in the death of Isaiah will destroy any resurrection of her and Jermaine's love in the future.
In the second part of this trilogy, Allen keeps the reader turning pages. The pace is fast and the characters are characters that you can sympathize with, cheer for and dislike. Allen keeps up the excitement as she takes the reader on a ride which twists through roads of intrigue and mystery. At the end, the reader is left breathless and anxiously awaiting the final part of the story.
If you like romance with its set of complications and conflict, Confessions is definitely good for the soul.

Jermaine Grant, saddened by the death of his best friend Isaiah, spends his days just trying to cope with life. Not only has he lost someone he considered as a brother, but the one person who always had his back. To top things off, his fiancée Nia Thomas traipses off to Chicago for a job interview without taking into consideration that Jermaine truly needs her to be there for him. The last straw that finally breaks the camel's back is when he receives some devastating news from his past which will change his life forever.
Nia is tired of always being the one making all the changes in her relationship with Jermaine. She has tried being understanding of his needs but Jermaine has not reciprocated. Nia is also faced with issues of her own when her past life resurfaces. She soon realizes that it's time she makes some changes which may or may not include Jermaine. When she is given another interview for the job of her dreams, she doesn't turn it down. Jermaine and Nia both are faced with trials and tribulations in life, but will they ever realize the need to let go and let God?
Renee Allen has penned a very poignant novel filled with secrets, lies and deceit. All this mayhem coupled with the after-affects of the loss of a loved one is enough to send one over the edge of insanity. Isaiah's presence is felt throughout the book and while reading this book, I found myself wondering if any of my deceased loved ones were sitting beside me. Although the plot and characterization are on point, the little "umph" which would make this novel an above average read is missing. I am however, patiently awaiting The Eleventh Hour, the follow-up to CONFESSIONS. (RAW Rating 3.5)

Love it!
I enjoyed it (although enjoyed book 1 a bit better). (SPOILER) There were some annoying characteristics from Nia's character (i.e. her not opening up to her mom about her stepdad, why would she go back to the house to sleep over? That didn't make sense to me.) The ending gives you a whopper that will make you want to read the third book.
It left me hanging a lot through out the read. The first book was great.
I had to rate this book as a 5. It was well written and the characters were too real. I sympathized with the characters emotions. I appreciated the spiritual reality displayed in the book. It was also intriguing how the dirty works of Satan played out. Secrets always have a way of surfacing in time.
