Tempted Number 6 in series House of Night Kristin Cast PC Cast 9781905654581 Books Reviews
Warning #1 do not buy the audio, the narrator is horrible.
Love the way they got rid of the guy issues. This book is definitely not one of the best entries in this series. Too much inner turmoil. It just might of been the annoying narrator but all those inner thoughts were getting on my nerves.
I know she's only 17 but thinking Kalona is good is ridiculous. Why hasn't Nix shown her Kalona's real side or her side of the story.
I have to remember this is written for 13 year old's but I give them more credit than this 17 year old girl this book is suppose to be about.
What bothers me, all the death visions were of Zoey alone. Don't be alone. Don't separate from your friends. And what does she do in the end, separates her friends some going to the hotel room, one looking for the other one. What do you think will happen? Too bad Heath paid the price and not Zoey.
I might be cynical but the ending was like a bad horror movie, where you sit there saying don't do that but they do it anyway! Not very original.
If it takes another 6 months or more for the next book I will probably move on to something else.
I laughed, I cried, I prayed and I prayed again. And the end...left me aghast.
The House of Night series is truly and honestly completely addictive. As a series, it offers a spellbinding story about Zoey Redbird a vampire fledgling that has been touched by the Goddess Nyx and must battle evil alongside her friends. `Tempted' was a great transition book because, albeit nothing much actually happened, some critical events took place to move the story forward. This book deals with Zoey and the gang deciding to go back to the House of Night and trying to figure out how to deal with and defeat Kalona and Neferet. Also, Zoey knows Stevie Ray is hiding something and she struggles to trust her best friend. There was also the necessary boyfriend drama and some of the aftermath after the battle with Kalona and Neferet.
The structure in this volume was different, as it offered the points of view of characters other than Zoey Stevie Ray, Aphrodite, Stark, Heath, Rephaim, and of course Zoey. So many points of view were unnecessary, albeit interesting. It truly made the story more whole and let use truly get to know the other characters. It did become repetitive and in future volumes I hope to see only two points of view that of Zoey and Stevie Ray, as they seem the plot driving forces behind the novels. Moreover, Stevie Ray's points of view proved invaluable in her story as it let us learn many things about her.
The prose and vocabulary used in this book is what makes me *heart* it so much! It is just so funny and interesting. This book will have you laughing out loud.
Nothing much really happened in the plot itself and it takes place in the span of about 3 days, like the previous book, Hunted. But what does happen proves to be rather critical to the progression of the storyline. I think this book set many things in motion that will have grave repercussions. And again...the end...there are no words that can console me. As soon as I realized where the story was headed I had a horrible feeling in my gut and I prayed against hope, it did not end that way.
A few things were missing from this book (apart from the next volume in the series!). I missed the gang itself. There was little interaction between them, and even between the Twins! I can't help but think that this was the byproduct of having so many points of view; something that to be sacrificed and it ended up being the interactions between the characters. There was a long of introspection but not a lot of communication.
In conclusion, the series is superb. It is truly a funny and engrossing series. This book, specifically, will leave you praying that May 2010 (when the next book, Burned, comes out) was already here.
Addicted to the series. Always a good read. I love me some supernatural. I do like the author's style of writing, which feels natural and compatible to the way we talk and think. Good character development. Love the fact that the author references modern icons, movies and events. Story lines are interesting and filled with drama and edge of your seat excitement and anticipation. I do love to hate the villain and this one is evil. Only negatives are ones that waste good story space and time, such as, the repetitive descriptions of past events and characteristics of people and then the romantic events or inner insecurity issues can definitely use some editing as it can, in places, be blah blah blah....tedious and over descriptive for what is needed. I usually just skip over these sections and get back to what's really happening with the story. There are also some typos here and there that bug me on rare occasion because I wish I could just fix them myself! Oh, and though the length of these books are typical, I would love if some authors would just make books that are seriously think again, like 500 pages or more! Other than that. I highly recommend this series. You won't regret it.
This b look series is a great series it's not all wars nor love/sex scenes every other paragraph, there are the normal good and bad but good doesn't always win . It's not just blood sucking its a story with new kinds of demons and good guy's and a very different way to approach magic and vamps and life with humans .you don't get the same story in each book with only different characters you get new story characters with old and it's always on the move I think any fantasy or vampires demons humans and witches will really enjoy its series I haven't been able to just walk away from the story it keeps your mind busy all the time ,no same old same old blood guts sex the end it keeps you interested throughout the series. Ages from around 13 and on up I think will enjoy it .Don't get me wrong it's not perfect but die read it again in few years . Good luck
Great book!
