I loved the first book in Ms. James' Love Inc. series, so I certainly couldn't pass up reading the second book in the series. Though I didn't fall as deeply into this story as I did Saving Scarlett, I thought Taming Cross was a great, inventive story, and I thoroughly enjoyed reading it.

It's been six months, and Cross Carlson is still trying to recover from the damage done during his motorcycle wreck. Both the physical and emotional damage. Between not being able to work in his motorcycle shop due to injuries to his left and dominant hand and his struggle with his guilt and anger over his father's darkest secret, Cross is going stir crazy and doesn't know what to do with himself. When it becomes too much for him to handle, he decides to do what he feels he should have done in the first place: save Missy.

Missy, a.k.a. Meredith, isn't sure how she ended up in this place, but it must be punishment for every wrong thing she's ever done in her life. Hiding out in a Mexican convent/hospital from the drug lord who bought her as a sex slave isn't where she saw her life going, but she goes on from day to day as best she can. She has grown very fond of the sisters who took her in and enjoys her work as a massage therapist for the injured children who frequent the hospital. She's just waiting for the day when Jesus comes for her to punish her for running away from him. When a strange American shows up to help her, she is reluctant but goes with him out of necessity to survive. They set out on a crazy, dangerous journey to try to get her back to the States. But will they be able to escape without Jesus and his crew killing them? Or will she run from everyone when she finds out the true identity of her rescuer? This book is filled with intrigue, suspense, pain, and a heart-wrenching love story between an unlikely pair who have the world working against them. Taming Cross is an amazing read, and I can't wait for the third installment of the Love Inc. series: Unmaking Marchant.

Ella James gave me everything I didn’t know I wanted with this story. Part of me wanted to have a playboy hero that falls in love, but what I got was so much better. Cross is nearly ruined by his accident. He’s trying to find a way to move forward and nothing seems to work – until he decides to become a hero to a woman he feels like he let down.

Cross falling for Suri would have been the easy story to tell and I am sure as a reader I could have been happy with a simple friends falling in love with one another story, but Ella James did not take the easy road. She gave us a story of a man falling in love with a woman that was sold as a sex slave and the woman that might just get him killed.

Taming Cross was a fabulous follow up to Selling Scarlett and the whole romance/suspense vibe continued on throughout this story. It was romantic and emotional. Cross’s character was completely the opposite of everything I imagined and it was perfect!

The series continues with March’s story, which by the end of Taming Cross may have just gotten a bit more complicated.
This was a great read and I would recommend it to anyone who likes Ella's other books or the romance/new adult genre. I read Selling Scarlet first and while you don't have to, I would recommend that you do, I think some things might be a bit confusing if you haven't. That said, I totally thought I knew where this book was going and what it was going to be about. I was so wrong and very happily surprised by the direction the author took. There were a lot of great twists I didn't see coming and a good set up for a third book about this group of friends. (Can't wait to read that one!) One final note, this book does deal with abuse and the sex trade, legal and illegal. If you are not comfortable with (or just don't like) those themes, this book is not for you.
